London is serviced by 5 major airports, simply because of the huge number of tourists that visit the capital each year. Each of these airports offers good links to the city centre; a fact that makes them popular destinations for visitors and commuters alike.

Heathrow Airport – Heathrow is London’s largest airport and is the world’s busiest for international passengers. It has five terminals and acts as a regional base to more than 90 airlines, which fly to over 150 destinations worldwide. It is located 22km west of Central London. The cheapest way to get to Central London from Heathrow is by using the London Underground. The journey takes less than an hour – though it will depend on your final destination – and costs around $6.

Gatwick Airport – Gatwick, located 45km south of the city center, is London’s second-largest airport. It is the main hub for discount and charter airlines. The journey from Gatwick Airport to central London, takes anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes depending on traffic. To avoid potential traffic problems, you might want to consider a train instead, which will take you directly from the airport to Victoria Station.

Stansted Airport – Stansted is the definition of a budget airline hub but, despite the limited number of airlines, it is still London’s third busiest airport. It is located 48km northeast of the city center and there are convenient and reliable bus and train connections between the two. Stansted Bus and easyBus all would be your best options – they both send vehicles between the airport and Victoria Station, with the option to jump off at Marble Arch or Baker Street if you prefer.

Luton Airport – Luton Airport is actually located in the county of Bedfordshire, approximately 55km north of London’s centre. Being a small, single runway airport it is commonly used by commuters traveling to destinations in Europe and for visitors arriving on budget airlines. There are bus services that run into London 24 hours per day, the most popular of which are easyBus and Green Line.

London City Airport – This small, central airport is situated just 11km from the centre of London and is suited to light aircraft that specialize in short take-offs and landings. Its location close to Canary Wharf makes it ideal for business flights and private travelers destined for the nearby financial district. In addition, the airport is well connected to London in its entirety through the Docklands Light Railway and a network of bus routes.

International airports outside London include Birmingham and Manchester, both of which offer an alternative to the airports of London. Birmingham airport is central to the UK while Manchester is located in the north. Both have outstanding transport links to all the major cities of the UK, including of course London.

One thing you hear much of about airlines in the news is the number of bags and other items they lose each and every year, with particular airlines and particular airports being better – or worse – than others.

However, losing a suitcase or another item of baggage doesn’t compare in any way when you consider it. While arriving at a destination without a change of clothes, and toothpaste, toothbrush is a bad way to start a trip, imagine how you’d feel if you arrived at your destination after flying with your dog and he or she hadn’t arrived having been lost in transit.

That is exactly what happened to a Canadian couple after their dog was lost by Delta airlines when he was checked into a flight from Mexico City to Detroit. When they arrived in Detroit it turned out that their dog – which they’d adopted as a stray while holidaying in Mexico – had escaped from his airline approved dog carrier.

Apparently Paco isn’t the first dog to be lost by Delta. Four years ago a similar incident happened with a prize-winning dog said to be valued at $20,000. Vivi was a whippet who went missing at JFK airport after competing in Westminster Kennel Club Show.

When you are choosing between the various airline approved dog carriers on the market make sure the one you select is sturdy and that the metal door is both firm and the dog unable to dislodge it from its mountings.

Most have doors that are held in place by pins that fit into plastic extrusions – the pins shuld extend by 1.5cm so they are well into the extrusions and prevent the door from popping off the carrier – so make sure they are ng enough to prevent such a mishap and the door is sturdy enough to prevent being damaged by the dog in any way.

Also, make sure with the case of hard plastic dog carriers that the two halves are sealed when they are put together. They should have several locking pieces around the cage that clip it together. If they fail to do this, the cage has the danger of falling apart during transit.

These days there are countless people who travel by plane. Because of this travellers are able to arrive at their destination easier and in a quicker amount of time. However, despite the number of hours spent at airports in addition to the strict security involved flying is still highly regarded as the ideal option. Strict airport rules however can mean packing nuisance for air travelers. With a little advance planning, everything can go efficiently and smoothly when travelling. Below are a few important tips to becoming a better organized traveler:

- Always plan ahead. Make a list of the things you need to bring, making sure that you only pack what is necessary so you’ll reduce the number of luggage you need to carry. Remember that all airlines have maximum sizes and weights for both checked in and carry-on baggage. Mostly, the largest weight for checked in luggage is 23 kg with additional charges for excess baggage. When it comes to carry-on luggage the limit is typically 10 kg. However, it is better that you call your chosen airline in advance since some have slightly differing requirements. On the day of your trip, take into consideration the traffic and weather so you will still have plenty of time to see if you missed something.

- Learn what items cannot be carried on a plane. You will see that there is a long list of disallowed products, some of which include sharp objects, for instance ice picks, knives, box cutters; sporting products, for instance golf clubs, baseball bats, and pool cues; firearms and guns which also feature flares and air guns; tools, for example hammers, drills and crowbars; plus self defense items and martial arts for example stun guns, shocking devices, pepper spray and brass knuckles. Yet, one four ounce, or 118 ml holder of pepper spray or mace if authorized in checked luggage provided it has a safety mechanism added to hinder accidental discharge; items that are flammable; some chemicals; in addition to explosive materials. Call your airline company if you need to bring these items since some of these may be checked in.

- Furthermore take the neccessary time to sort out your identification cards. All throughout the airport, you will find that you will be asked to display your government-issued photo I.D.. Additionally, passengers are required to provide proof of travel, including a boarding pass, or printed confirmation of an e-ticket. Take the necessary time to organize your I.D., making sure that you can retrieve them at anytime.

Airport rules and guidelines mean that you just cannot pack anything and everything you need. We need to abide by these restrictions for security reasons. Be sure to present everything. It will definitely save you a lot of time and hassle in dealing with airport securities. Advance planning is the key. When it comes to packing, pack only what you require, making sure that they are organized, and not prohibited, which will allow you to arrive at the airport with enough time, for you to enjoy your holiday.

Many mothers dread the thought of getting on an airplane with a baby or young child. The responsibilities are seemingly endless, with childrens passports, nursing, changing diapers, and other motherly duties. Each minute a new challenge appears, and with the right amount of planning, you can have a nice, relaxed flight.

Preparation is key when getting ready for a flight with your young one. As soon as you plan your trip, begin shopping for good airline prices. Many airlines allow children under the age of two to fly for free sitting on your lap, but make sure to check with your airline to avoid last minute panic. Also, airlines are getting stricter on allowing strollers onto a flight. Once again, check with your airline and see what their rules are. If they don’t allow strollers, be sure to pack yours in a stroller bag to keep it clean while it’s stowed away. When booking seats, it might be a good idea to get a seat separate from your significant other, so one can rest while the other keeps baby occupied.

A few weeks in advance, make sure you know where your family’s passports are. If you can’t find them, get a US passport application and reapply for a new one as soon as possible. Be sure you have a birth certificate to present at the airport as well. Planning ahead can help you reduce stress leading up to your flight time. You will need to get a new one if you’ve been recently married or divorced, as well as if you have had yours for over 10 years. A child passport is only valid for 5 years, so check each accordingly. Arrange to be picked up from the airport if you don’t plan on getting a rental car, and make sure there is a seat for your baby.

Family travel doesn’t need to be traumatic. With a little planning ahead, your trip can go a little bit smoother. Be sure to turn in your passport application as soon as possible if your travel takes you outside the United States. Remember children under 16 will need a passport for children that must be replaced every five years. This trip is for you and your family, so ignore anyone that gives you a hard time if Baby becomes unhappy. You know your baby better than anyone. Well, you are now all set to take your vacation. So grab your bags and get going!

In its rocky past, South Africa has experienced turmoil and suffering, still, the country is starting to re-invent itself. As a matter of fact, tourism numbers for South Africa have increased every year for the past ten years.

Flights that fly into South Africa usually schedule departures for evening, which allows them to land early in the morning. The biggest majority of these flights will land in Johannesburg, but most tourists that book cheap flights to South Africa, head for Cape Town. As South Africa’s oldest city, Cape Town offers visitors top-notch restaurants and a pulsing nightlife.

Very few airlines service Africa, so it is not uncommon for flights to book very quickly. Despite this drawback, it is more than feasible to secure an inexpensive flight to South Africa. You just need to remember a few tips. The biggest factor in finding a cheap fare is to begin early. You definitely want to book that flight at least two months in advance. The best time to fly to South Africa is hard to pinpoint. Being a land that offers a wide variety of pastimes and varying climates, it really depends on what you intend to do, and because of this, the best time for booking a cheap flight changes. Keep the season reversal in mind when you plan your trip, as summer falls between November and February in the southern hemisphere. If you have plans to see wild game, August through October is the springtime months, and the best time to observe game. If whale watching is your goal, try mid-June to October for the Southern Right Whales and August through December if you prefer Humpbacks.

Booking your flight from Europe is definitely the cheapest way to go. If you already live in Europe, that is not a problem. However, if you are flying from the US, you may want to ask your travel agent to book a flight to Europe first, before flying on to South Africa. If at all possible, hit the off-season, November to mid-December and January to March, and that flight from the US to Europe will be very reasonable.

Several of the budget airline companies in South Africa operate regionally, so using a regional hub could well save you money on your fare. There are ten domestic and International airports in South Africa, all of which are run by ACSA, or Airports Company South Africa. You will also find six different airlines that offer domestic flights, and quite a few charter services. The airlines offer different pricing packages and tours, so carefully planning your trip will help you make the most of your time and money.

Your passport must be valid for thirty days past your stay, and make sure you have an onward ticket.

You will need a passport, and it must be valid for at least thirty days beyond your stay, as well as an onward ticket. Certainly, the options for flying to South Africa are limited, but you can secure a cheap flight if you plan ahead.

“So you haven’t been in a plane in ages. The last time you were, perhaps you thought you were going to die, just like the first time, the second time and each other second you spent on that airplane. You obviously have a condition called aerophobia, a term which speaks for itself and doesn’t need the smallest amount of explanation. Maybe, what you would be more interested about is how to overcome this fear. Of course, if you ask if people ever get over aerophobia, they do. You’ve got everything in control is the better news.

If you’re serious about curing yourself, you need to cut down on those air catastrophe documentaries on tv or YouTube which you may be ironically fond of. The same goes for movies that show crashing aircraft as you guessed it. Whether or not they are linked to flying as these could make negative vibes that only compound your fears, you also have to keep away from negative thoughts. If anything, watch TV shows or read stories about people who have actually overcome their aerophobia – and don’t take their tips for granted.

Trust is the one thing you need to develop if you try overcoming your fear of flying, not necessarily in the crew or anybody directly connected to the flight but trust in life in general and the great things that can happen. Mostly, the only thing you need to understand when dealing with aerophobia is that it is more about the fear of losing someone or something than it is of flying In your most solitary moments, try to explore your emotions and find that fear within you. Then try to look the reasons after it. You’ll have a greater chance at training yourself to be more rational in flight once you get hold of what you’re looking for.

Or then again, basing on the world’s worst airline statistics, you can simply snap out of it and think that you’ve got 1 in 1.13 million chances of figuring in an air catastrophe. If you take a look at the statistics of the world’s best airlines, the chances are even more remote by up to seven times. Only irrationality can make you fear flying and it should be enough to encourage that your phobia is unjustified, worthless and just downright illogical.

Whether you’re traveling alone or with the entire family, there will be nice airline packages from cheap flights to the Philippines to cheap flights to Scotland to suit your needs.”
From cheap flights to Argentina to cheap flights to Amsterdam, there’ll be nice airline packages to suit your requirements, whether you’re traveling alone or with the entire family.

Theft Report from LAX

With budget at the top of the priority list for most travelers many think that ticket price is the most important consideration when choosing an airline. While this is, without doubt, the top of most priority lists there are many other factors to bear in mind.

But price is, for most travelers, the most significant factor to consider. But the cheapest flight may not mean the cheapest journey. Traveling any distance to the airport will add to your travel costs. And if your destination airport is some distance from where you want to go there will be more expense.

Be sure that you know exactly what is included in your ticket price and what is excluded. You may need to add the cost of refreshments to your ticket price if food and drink are excluded.

Be sure to find out how flexible your intended airline is when it come to departure times and dates? Tickets are always more expensive at weekends so weekday tickets would be a more economical option. Its worth finding out if there are cheaper weekday ticket options.

Something else to consider is the airlines timekeeping performance. Statistics are available for most airlines so check to find out how good they are at sticking to their timetable. You may find that, although your airline tickets are cheap, the airline is often late.

Its also worth finding out what you can about an airlines lost luggage statistics. Does your cheap, budget airline lose more bags than the more expensive carriers? Losing your luggage can be enormously expensive, not to mention inconvenient, so it’s a false economy to go with a cheap airline that is notorious for losing luggage.

Its also worth considering over-booking. Over-booking is becoming an increasingly significant problem. Passengers turn up for their booked flights, in good faith, only to find their flight over-booked and no seats are left.

As you have probably gathered, determining whether an airline is worth using takes research. The more research you can do the better informed you wil be when it comes to making your choice.

If you drive to the airport you can save some serious money by booking your Manchester airport parking, Gatwick Parking or Heathrow Parking in advance.

A person prepared for traveling – let it be personal or official, always keeps on thinking “Have I missed something? Are all the things kept properly?” With the thousands of other thoughts running in mind there are chances that a traveler might miss some important things.

When you are traveling what can be the most important thing that you would not afford to miss or lose? Yes, the guess is right, that’s your Traveling Documents.

Your traveling documents may comprise of basic documents – your visa, your passport, your ticket and your vaccination card (if any).

Now, the best way is to make a file/ folder of these documents and keep them in the bag which would always be with you.

For your tickets, you should always have all the flight (or train or bus tickets) arranged as per the date of travel. It should be kept at one place in the file/ folder.

Your passport is an essential document when you are traveling overseas. You might not get an international traveling ticket without showing your passport to the travel agent and customs clearances. This makes it crucial to remember all the time that the passport once taken out of the file/ folder should be kept inside. One shouldn’t be ashamed to ask to the inquiring person this question, “Have you given me my passport back?”

Your visa is a part of the passport (it’s attached to the passport), but you need to be careful about the visa expiry date.

And, your vaccination card – the vaccination documentation, should also be with you. You may need vaccinations against some diseases, if you are traveling to certain countries.
