Sharm is Egypt’s oldest and most popular resort. Its superb weather attracts people from Europe and the rest of the globe over summer and winter. During the day, tourists chill out on the beaches or by the swimming pool and during the night, Sharm el Sheikh Old Town and Na’ama Bay come alive with a lot of bars, cafes and restaurants offering something for everybody.
In the daytime, for those who require something to do, there are an assortment of trips out there and here are five of the recommended trips to be had. One of the first factors that attracted travellers to the region was the desirable marine life and you can easily explore the stunning reefs with a snorkeling trip. The most in demand places for the day outings are the Ras Mohammed National Park or Jackson Reef in the Straits of Tiran. Irrespective of which trip you decided upon, you will not be disappointed.
Two hours away is Mount Sinai and there are frequent coach trips taking holidaymakers to the highest point in the Sinai to watch the sun rise over the desert landscape. The scenery around the mountains is eye-catching and any one making the early start won’t be disappointed. An additional well loved location in the Sinai is the dazzling Colour Canyon. Going by 4×4 vehicles, tourists will be able to take a look at the popular colours and rock formations of the Colour Canyon.
Cairo is always a well loved day trip from Sharm el Sheikh and frequent tours by air and road take people off to the Egyptian capital. The excursion begins with a visit to the Cairo Museum which is packed with historical pieces such as the famed Mask of Tutankhamen. From the museum, the next stop is lunch time of a Nile river boat prior to venturing over to Giza and the Pyramids. The Sphinx is a short bus ride away and right after taking time there, there is still time to check out a perfume shop and a papyrus shop just before going back to Sharm el Sheikh.
Not wanting to miss out on an Egyptian experience, a different popular Sharm tour is an early evening camel ride out in the desert accompanied by a Bedouin dinner. Dining in the quiet of the desert under a starlit sky is a perfect way to wind down after a day kicking back on the beach.
