Luxury cruises have definitely many lovers as well as others who just hate them. What is fascinating though is that from the ones who claim they don’t like them, not many have actually tried to experience one. Many claim that luxury cruises are obsolete and they appeal just to old people just because it all started in the early days of the 20th century. Some of the big names included the Titanic, which was sunk in 1912, the Britannic which was sunk in Greece in 1916 and so many more. Some of the biggest and most luxurious boats ended people’s lives in a tragic way and this is why people are still talking about them.
The unsinkable Titanic with all its luxury and greatness has definitely had an impact on many people, especially those who watched the blockbuster films which were depicting the whole story. Some of our family members moved to the States and since then they were always coming back every 2-3 years in a cruise boat. They could be talking for hours and hours about incidents that took place in the Atlantic and about those great people they met on board.
One of the main reasons that many people find luxury cruises so appealing is the degree they are associated to pure romance. Hollywood with all those romance films shot on luxurious cruise boats has definitely contributed to the myth. I had never thought seriously of trying ever one of those five star cruises my aunties were always talking about. They seemed so happy each time they were talking about those unforgettable Silversea cruises or about those Oceania cruises that were always leaving me indifferent.
My mind changed completely after I had the chance to experience one cruise with my family. Since, then I’ve done two more cruises and although they are quite pricey they are definitely worth it.
