Australia may be one of the most popular holiday locations on the planet, but we still need to decide whereabouts we want to go in this country? Australia is a continent not an island; its sheer size earns it this continental status. So deciding where to visit can be quite tricky, especially when there may be several places you want to visit. The easiest way for you to overcome all of this and do what you need to is to take the option to go on a tour.

Now you have two main choices that you need to make before deciding on a tour. Travelling around on your own is only good for making the decisions you want, you cannot do this on an escorted tour? Either one of these options is a great idea, but you need to decide if you want have more control over your holiday.

If you want to get good information on your surroundings and visit a whole host of Australia, then you need an Escorted Tour. The escorted tour is something tat you cannot control, but will get the best information from. There will be a plotted route for those that take escorted tour, something that you will have to enjoy with others you may not have met before. Even though you get the chance to visit plenty of locations, you cannot change the direction of the bus, you have to follow everyone else. Those that enjoy the regular company of others will enjoy this type of holiday!

Self Drive Tours or as they are better known, Fly Drive holidays are those that you take on your own. The joy with these holidays is that you can sort out exactly where it is that you want to go, then you simply rent a car when you get there and head off on your journey. These holidays have become extremely popular around the world, allowing people to experience their holidays the way that they would like to experience them. There is no need for you to worry about what you can and can’t do everything is entirely your choice! If you do undertake these holidays, you will find that the self tours could be more stressful, meaning that you have to do all the driving and all the planning.

Australia holidays are still growing and have yet to reach their full potential. But because of its size the Fly Drive Australia holidays are becoming the best form of holiday for this Country.

For quite a few years now a group of the so-called “budget airlines” in Europe have been taking part in a fares war trying to offer the lowest air fares to a huge number of cities throughout Europe. It’s quite normal to see that one of the leading low cost carriers for example Ryanair or Easyjet has an offer of return flights from Britain to France, Spain or Germany for £1 (approx $1.45). There might be airport landing fees and taxes to be added to the fare, but it remains an absolute bargain if you’re looking to see a variety of cities throughout Europe. One of the biggest disadvantages of these flights is that they frequently make use of to the smaller municipal airports instead of the better known majorinternational ones. This can mean that a flight that is supposed to be flying to a big European city actually lands some fifty miles away. There can be some advantages with this arrangement, the smaller airports will always offer a much quicker service on luggage and check-in because they’re catering for a lot less flights. The downside is that transportation to and from these airports can be patchy at best and an extremely popular option is hiring a car from the airport. Here are a variety of the great cities that we have visited with flights from the budget airlines. We are sure that you will enjoy a visit to any of these fine areas, without doubt they have a lot to offer to visitors to their country.

Glasgow, Scotland

Glasgow, once the butt of so many jokes about the slums of the Gorbals has undergone a Renaissance and is now a fascinating, architecturally diverse city welcoming huge numbers of tourists throughout the year. The trendy West side of Glasgow is home to one of the oldest universities in the U.K.. Perched on a hill in the middle of the Medieval region of Glasgow, its students bring a cosmopolitan, fun loving atmosphere to the surrounding area. The budget airlines utilise Prestwick Airport which is approximately 35 miles (51 km) to the north east of the centre of Glasgow and you will find an excellent road between the airport and Glasgow city centre. It’s a popular area for sightseeing, so it is advisable to hire a car at Prestwick Airport before setting out on your journey. An uncrowded half hour drive from Prestwick on the M77 motorway brings you to the city centre. Glasgow is a perfect starting point for an adventure in the Trossachs National Park. Just 13 mile (20 km) drive out of Glasgow and you might discover sensational countryside on the back of a pony, whereas a 30 mile (50 km) drive eastwards along another excellent motorway will find you in Edinburgh together with its amazing festivals, Princes Street shopping, the historic Castle and Holyrood Palace.

Florence, Italy

Without doubt one of Europe’s most stunningly beautiful cities, Florence is served by the airport at Pisa, some 50 miles (84 km) west of Florence. Rent a car at Florence airport and you will be in position to explore Pisa’s leaning tower, majestic Florence and some of some of the most picturesque countryside in the whole of Europe, that of the disturbingly beautiful Tuscany. It is therefore not surprising that Florence is one of the leading historic cities throughout Europe. Once you arrive at the city of Florence you will find that much of the centre is pedestrianized protecting the many ancient architectural treasures and statues from the vibrations and pollution associated with hectic traffic. The traffic free status brings a sense of peace and quiet as you walk from one monument to the next. You don’t have to stray too far before being hit by the evil, ear piercing roar of Florence’s legion of scooter riders. Apart from the Ponte Vecchio all of the bridges leading to city centre are polluted, noisy places, thus giving us an added incentive to keep to the narrow alleyways and tranquil sanctuaries of Florence’s beautiful piazzas.

Tours, France

Tours is the ideal centre for touring France’s beautiful Loire valley and its magnificent chateaux The ideal centre for exploring the Loire Valley renowned for its serious array of palatial residences, Tours boasts quite a few of its own charms. Although the small airport is but a couple of miles out of town, you really need to rent a car in the Loire Valley to fully explore some of the most picturesque towns and villages in the whole of France. Along the banks of the River Loire between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes, a host of cultural treasures are presented for the visitor to feast their eyes on. A UNESCO site, the Loire Valley offers beautiful countryside, historic villages and lots of flamboyant castles. During the renaissance the Loire Valley was named the “Retreat of Kings and was a firm favourite of French royalty. Former working fortified castles were converted into palatial and elegant trophy residences and these are now the region’s main tourist attractions. Tourists from all over the world are attracted to the historic towns that are situated along the banks of the Loire. Towns such as Chinon, Tours and Orleans have lots to see and do whilst the most popular of all the chateaux is probably that on the estate of Chambord. Throughout the region you will discover small, family owned vineyards selling a variety of great wines at budget prices. Look out for the word “degustation”, which means sampling I guess, and provided that ‘Le Patron’ is not in the middle of a long leisurely lunch you will be offered a warm welcome and he will be delighted to lead you through a tasting of all his wines. Naturally, it is strongly advised that you take a tee-totaller as your chauffer, some of these tasting sessions can become extremely alcoholic!.
