It has come to that time of the year, the time where people need to start booking holidays for the Christmas period. Stats have shown this year that many tour operators have made a loss this year. The holiday’s district has not done very well throughout this year, mainly due to the recession, but also due to incorrect weather forecasts, indicating a warm summer in Britain.

Now however, tour operators are saying that Christmas will receive a massive influx of holidays because of the lack of holidays during the summer season. The Christmas period does receive a lot of attention for holidays any way. Hopefully what this means is that the increase in customers coming to tour operators will mean an increase in their profits.

So will the Christmas holidays start to flood in? Well the tour operators have been anticipating this so much that deals and offers are flying around everywhere. People seem to be awaiting the Christmas period to launch off on a lovely Caribbean holiday.

When you think about it, St Lucia and Barbados are two of the most popular places to go on holiday in the world, not to mention at Christmas time. Christmas time seems to be the time when they are even more popular than normal. I find it strange that people would like to go to warm countries on a Christmas holiday. When I was younger and even now, the joy of a snowy Christmas always gave me such fun and excitement. Christmas time, or at least the ideal one is often described as the “white Christmas”.

Do People really care about the weather anymore? Snow seems to be one of the climates that we don’t seem to be bothered with. The sun and clear blue seas are what compel us to embark on Caribbean holidays. And maybe there is nothing wrong with this, maybe Christmas is just becoming another one of those days in the year!

America is a great place for anyone to holiday. Do people really believe that America has some of the best holidays around, or is it beginning to fade?

Some people have started to suggest that the American holiday is now boring for the people that have already been. It is now suggested that luxury locations like the Maldives, Dubai and the Caribbean. These destinations offer just as much sun and heat, if not more, and they are even cheaper. Some people are arguing that these luxury holidays are even better than the American holiday and even better value for money.

Does this make them right? I believe that it is difficult to argue against the holiday in America, and in fact the only problem that I can find, is the time to travel and the cost. There is so much for couples, families or even the single person to do in America. Well for families, there is the joy of the theme parks. Disney world and universal studios can offer enough fun for the entire family, not to mention other attractions on Florida holidays containing Sea World or Epcot.

Now for the couples, you may all embark on Las Vegas holidays. There will not be a single person who won’t want to go back there, unless you had a strange and unwanted wedding or lost loads of money. This is great environment for single people as well as Couples; you are guaranteed to make friends with loads of people here.

Las Vegas weddings, well there is a great way for couples to spend a holiday as well. Getting married is very special, and hopefully only happens once, but this is a much more socially acceptable place to get married now.

As far as i am concerned, America holidays are still very popular? I still say it is as strong as ever, bring on the competition, see if America holidays or Fly drive holidays are threatened!

The ‘Fair City’ of Perth in Scotland an ex royal burgh can be found at the head of the Tay estuary. Between the 12th and 15th centuries Perth vied with Dunfermline for the right of being the capital of the nation. In the article below I introduce three places to visit in Perth, Scotland; Elcho Castle, Scone Palace and Huntingtower Castle:

Scone Palace

Today, Scone Palace is the home of the Earls of Mansfield, and a increasingly popular attraction to tourists from across the globe. The palace of Scone is an integral part of the history of Scotland, as the Scottish kings were once crowned there. In 1306, Robert the Bruce was crowned at Scone Palace, as was Charles II when he took occupancy of the Scottish Crown in 1651. There is a beautiful and mysterious mood to the palace, which is justifiably so.At one time the site was an important gathering place of the Picts and there was also a very early Christian church there.

Elcho Castle

Located approximately 3 miles from the city of Perth, with glorious views across the River Tay, is Elcho Castle. The castle is one of the prime examples of 16th century constructions in Scotland today. The Wemyss family commissioned the building of the castle in the 1570′s. The land had been in the family since 1468, when it was consigned to them by King James III. In 1633, the leader of the family was given the titles of Earl of Wemyss and Lord Elcho. Elcho Castle and it’s lands stayed in possession of the Wemyss family until 1929. At this time, the 11th Earl of Wemyss, granted the castle to the nation of Scotland. The castle has recently been restored and is now in the care of Historic Scotland.

Huntingtower Castle

Found just west of Perth is Huntingtower Castle, a medieval pile. Although the castle is medieval in origin, it has been significantly redeveloped throughout the majoprity of it’s history. The Ruthven family were in possessison of the lands and castle from the twelth to seventeenth century. During this time the castle consisted of two separate towers, built three meters apart. When the Murray family took possession, later on in the 1600′s, they decided to merge the two towers, making the house appear more like a ordinary country manor house. The bridging work between the two towers is still rather noticeable today, both on the inside and the outside of the building.

If you are considering having a vacation in Perth you will discover plenty of online Perth hotels and guest houses and you will discover a broad range at http://www.perthhotelscotland.com/

Today England vacations are the fashion. The many reasons are complex but most are in agreement that the main factor is the current depression and the increasing need to save money, especially in relation to family vacations. A further influencing fact is the decreased value of the Pound Sterling which causes foreign travel for the British to be rather expensive but, alternatively, travel into the United Kingdom is cheap. England has many first class vacation destinations including a large number of seaside resorts, however more folk are choosing to take weekend city breaks instead. Popular city vacation destinations include; London, Birmingham and Manchester but there are plenty of other places in England in which to take a vacation such as Sheffield. With rooms available for as little as £20 a night, Sheffield bed and breakfast accommodation makes for a cheap city vacation destination.

Tourist Attractions In Sheffield

For a city with an industrial past especially in the steel and cutlery industry, Sheffield sports a superb variety of art galleries. The most well known are the Graves Art Gallery, Millennium Galleries and Site Gallery. The Millennium Galleries are a free entry visitor attraction and have visiting exhibitions (entry is for a few pounds. The Ruskin Gallery is based upon a collection given by John Ruskin in 1875 and features watercolors, sketches, minerals, casts, paintings and a selection of medieval illuminated manuscripts.

You will discover that Sheffield is home to a small number of museums however the City Museum is located on the outskirts of the city center as is the Kelham Island Museum which houses all kinds of things associated with the industrial past of the city and old machines. Although the city was bombed heavily during World War Two some superb examples of Victorian and older architecture still survive and the city center is incredibly easy to navigate on foot. Try to make time to visit the Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul which dates back to the fifteenth century.

Staying In Sheffield

As the city has a University the bars, cafes and clubs can become surprisingly busy at the weekends, during which time students make the most their free time. While lots of people enjoy such a vibrant nightlife others would prefer a more quiet place in which to stay, such people should make a reservation in a hotel away from the center of the city.

If a Sheffield weekend break is not your kind of thing why not consider booking a weekend in a bed and breakfast in London, the capital city of England? Alternatively why not consider booking a couple of weeks in a hotel in Liverpool, which was the European Capital of Culture in 2008 and benefits from an incredible selection of first class visitor attractions.

The UK has a great deal to offer the tourist and the numerous incredibly interesting, and incredibly diverse, cities commonly offer more than the numerous seaside resorts.

Spice Islands is another name that is generally known of Zanzibar. The reason for this is pretty obvious; it was a mass producer of cloves and still is today. Slowly becoming a huge tourist attraction, Zanzibar's tourism industry is now one of its biggest money spinners. Here are a list of some of the things should see, and do when you get to Zanzibar:

First and foremost you have to go and visit the Spice refining factories; Zanzibar holidays are famous for these. Travelling around the Islands is a must do and you can have the opportunity to travel around the island to view the spice factories for about 6 pounds.

If you want a more in-depth and emotional experience, you can go and visit the old Slave Market. Although this is not the most beautiful attraction on the island, it is certainly one of the most informative. If you do get the chance to go on this tour, you should be very keen to go, it gives great in depth history of the Island.

Head over to the eastern side of the island and find yourself looking over sandy beaches. Scuba diving is a great tourist attraction at Zanzibar, there is blue clear water and plenty of different fish and plants.

Just for your information though, these people come from a very respectful and religious culture. It is recommended to keep limbs covered with clothing in public, and try not to smoke or chew gum in-front of people, this is considered insulting. Because they are particularly religious, they do engage in a month of Ramadan, it is considered polite for those that don't engage in this, to not eat during the day. If you do all these things, at least it will show you respect them and they are a very hospitable people.

Go and enjoy a Zanzibar holiday or travel to the mainland for Botswana holidays or Namibia holidays as well.

Blackpool is a seaside resort sited on the English North West coast, which remains incredibly popular with tourists arriving from the nearby cities and towns which include Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington and more. The resort is also deeply popular with the Scottish who often turn up in large groups rather like the groups of factory workers of old on their company holiday. Occasionally it would seem that the resort is smothered in hotels and visitor attractions and although there is a large amount of bed and breakfasts in Blackpool it is still best to book in advance to be sure. Hotels varies from the cheerful and cheap to 5 star. Many are situated on the sea front but, if you prefer stay something more peaceful there are a few further inland.

In the eighteenth century Blackpool began to see its first tourists who had visited to enjoy the new craze of sea bathing. With the advent of the railway, from 1846 onwards, the town saw more tourists arriving to”take the cure”. Nowadays people can get to Blackpool by aeroplane, road or rail arriving there much faster than the early Victorian mill workers who would take up to 2 days from as nearby as Manchester.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

The main attraction in the resort, in Lancashire on the north west coast of England, which brings in approximately 7 million visitors every twelve months, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The Pleasure Beach is a static funfair with breath taking big rides, just a few are Valhalla, Grand National, the Pepsi Max Big One, Ice Blast, Zipper Dipper and Wild Mouse, as well as many more children’s rides, roller coasters, thrill rides, sideshows, sidestalls and games. The most recently added big thrill is Infusion, the world’s first to be a coaster of suspended loops all of it being over water.

Please remember: If you are visiting the Pleasure Beach as a family group you can save pennies by purchasing an unlimited ride wristband especially if you will be going on as many rides as possible because the individual cost of each ride soon starts to add up.

Getting There And Bed And Breakfast

As mentioned earlier in this article, Blackpool is very easy to get to nowadays as you can travel there by railway, car or plane. Arriving by train you will, most probably, be arriving at the main train station in Blackpool, which is Blackpool North on Talbot Road. Not too fat away, just a little further down the road is where you will find Blackpool National Express Coach Station, Blackpool’s main bus station. The other train station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, which is better for those wanting the Pleasure Beach. Blackpool Airport is situated approximately 2 miles from the town centre and was known as, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, one of Great Britains oldest airports.

Blackpool bed and breakfast is usually fairly cheap. Accommodation is cheaper in the off season and more expensive on Saturday and Sunday. Hotels in Blackpool are at their most expensive at the time of the Blackpool Illuminations, which is really the resort’s peak season.

Please remember: Some B & B’s can suffer from noise especially those located close to Central and North Pier. If you prefer somewhere quieter take a look beyond the North Pier.

The city of Bradford can be found in West Yorkshire, a county in England in Great Britain. Built at the foothills of the Pennine mountain range Bradford was perfectly placed to bloom during the period known as the industrial revolution. The fact is that, during the nineteenth century, the city of Bradford stood at the very forefront of the Industrial revolution and the city very quickly became a major international textile manufacturing centre, focusing on the wool industry and the town of Bradford became known as the wool capital of the world. Due to the ample supply of raw materials of iron ore, coal and soft water the city saw very quick growth of its manufacturing base and a correspondingly rapid growth in population. Unfortunately the textile industry in Bradford eventually fell into decline in the mid 1900′s. Since then the city of Bradford has become something of a rather popular vacation destination with a number of guest houses and hotels providing bed and breakfast accommodation in Bradford.

Bradford’s industrial past has bequeathed us a legacy of superb examples of Victorian architecture, which include; the Wool Exchange, the Neoclassical St. George’s Hall, old mills and the City Hall with it’s gothic extension at the back. The most ancient building to be situated in the city is the Cathedral, which can be traced back to medieval times, and was, for most of its life, a simple parish church. Sadly only a few buildings of this age survive, except for Bolling Hall. Bolling Hall is now a museum, situated about 1m in distance from the centre of Bradford. Sited in a quiet, beautiful garden, the museum takes the visitor on a fascinating journey, to a time dating back roughly 500 years, through the lives of those folk who once could claim Bolling Hall as their home.

Bradford is the home of the National Media Museum, which is probably, the most popular museum found outside London. At one time called the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television, the highly entertaining National Media Museum is free to enter which is suitable for people of all ages. The National Media Museum has a total of 3 cinemas, of which one is said to be the finest in the United Kingdom. One is able to explore the past, present and future of television in Experience TV, watch your favourite television moments in TV Heaven, muck about with light colour and lenses in the Magic Factory and investigate the exciting world of animation and watch a real animator at work in the Animation Gallery. Every weekend and during holidays there is an incredibly exciting jam packed schedule of activities, free tours and talks.

If you are planning to have a weekend break in Bradford you will find a large selection of online hotels and guest houses providing bed and breakfast accommodation in Bradford. You will find a broad range of Bradford accommodation at http://bradford.hotelreservationhelper.com/

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland with wonderful shopping opportunities plus a highly enjoyable night scene. For the more artistic visitor there are numerous places to sit and relax in the West End of Glasgow which has boutiques, tea rooms, cafés, bars, restaurants and clubs as well as some upmarket bed and breakfast in Glasgow. In the article which follows I will introduce three Glasgow attractions which should be of special interest to those who have an interest in the artistic world; the House For An Art Lover, the Burrell Collection and the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum:

Burrell Collection

In 1944 the city of Glasgow recieved the Burrel Collection from Sir william Burrell, and his wife, as a gift and the collection can be found at Pollok Country Park which is located in the south of the city of Glasgow This magnificent collection of art works is made up of over 9 thousand items of art. The collection is incredibly diverse containing a selection of modern art sculptures and a superb collection of Islamic art. You will find works of art by a variety of artists including Cezanne and Degas. As well as paintings and sculptures one is able to enjoy the stunning collection of alabasters, stained glass, tapestries and English furniture. On top of all this, the Burrell Collection also contains a very important collection of medieval art plus collections from ancient Chine & Egypt.

House For An Art Lover

House For An Art Lover is one of Glasgow’s most popular attractions. This incredible Art Nouveau house was designed, originally, by Charles Rennie Mackintosh (with the help of Margaret Macdonald, his wife), Glasgow’s most famous architect.

Originally the design was made for a competition of 1901 to make plans for a ‘House for an Art Lover’, however, the entry by Charles and his wife was disqualified because it was submitted late. Luckily, more than 100 years later the house is located in Bellahouston Park thanks to the efforts of the engineer Graham Roxburgh and architect Professor Andy Macmillan. Building commenced in 1989, ceased for a short time but resumed in nineteen ninety four thanks to the collaboration between the Glasgow School of Art and the Glasgow City Council.

The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

The Kelvingrove Art Gallery is home to one of Europe’s great civic art collections and one of Glasgow’s, and Scotland’s premier museums and art galleries, but also it has been voted one of the most popular free tourist attractions to be found in Scotland.

You will find Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum on the banks of the River Kelvin, in the West End of Glasgow, on Argyle Street. The gallery was constructed following the Glaswegian tradition of using red sandstone in a Spanish Baroque style. The building was designed by E.J. Milner Allen and Sir John W. Simpson and opened to the public for the first time in 1901. The museum’s collections were originally from the McLellan Galleries and the old Kelvingrove House Museum in Kelvingrove Park.

If you are in the process of planning a short vacation in the Scottish city of Glasgow you will discover a large selection of online hotels and guest houses providing bed and breakfast in Glasgow. You will find a broad listing of hotels and guest houses in Glasgow at http://www.glasgowhotelscotland.com/

Cardiff is not only the Welsh Capital, but it is also the most popular tourist destination in the UK outside England’s capital city of London. The city of Cardiff is also the largest of the cities in Wales, but it was only but a pretty small town until the early eighteen hundreds. It was at the start of the 19C when the small Welsh town of Cardiff saw itself grow into a busy port involved in the transport of the coal which was mined in the local area and across Wales, plus various other light and heavy industries. Cardiff remained a town until the twenty eighth of October nineteen hundred and five when King Edward VII granted the town city status, however, weirdly, Cardiff only became the capital city of Wales on 20th December nineteen fifty five. After this Cardiff very soon became home to many national institutions, including the University of Wales Registry Building, the National Museum of Wales and the Welsh National War Memorial. For a considerable amount of time now the Cardiff organisations involved in Information and Technology have witnessed amazing rates of growth along with, to a lesser degree various other areas of commerce and industry, most noticeably in service industries. Tourism has also increased dramatically and today there are large numbers of hotels supplying Cardiff bed & breakfast.

Tourist Attractions In Cardiff

Even though Cardiff has only been a city for one hundred years, surprisingly there has been a castle in Cardiff for roughly 2 thousand years. The Cardiff Castle currently standing is, most probably, the most popular tourist attraction in the city which can be found in the very middle of the city centre. Visitors can go on a guided tour through the interior of the castle, and/or, enjoy a pleasant walk around the breathtakingly picturesque gardens of the castle. You will also find a newly opened Interpretation Centre at the castle which shows the differing development stages, of the castle, through time from the Roman period right up to the present age.

The city of Cardiff also has a respectable number of modern visitor attractions including the highly fascinating Techniquest, one of the United Kingdom’s best Science Discovery centres. At the centre people will discover in excess of one hundred hands on exhibits, designed to entertain and fascinate all ages. There’s also a planetarium, a hi-tech Science Theatre, a laboratory and a Discovery Room.

There are a great many more tourist attractions to see in the city of Cardiff, so, if you are currently deciding upon taking a trip there it is immensely important that you reserve your lodgings at your first opportunity as, sadly hotels in Cardiff tend to be surprisingly busy and are frequently fully booked for months in advance. If you are travelling in a large group you might find that apartments in Cardiff turns out to be a cheap alternative to bed and breakfast accommodation.
